This superb quality, crested George II silver Hanoverian basting spoon was made In London in 1748 by Edward Bennett I and measures 13.75 inches in length, it has the original initials of I*R to the back of the stem and has a lovely crest to the back of the bowl, the large bowl is of thick gauge and well shaped with a good, thick tip and it is fully and clearly bottom marked to the back of the stem, a fine basting spoon weighing 6.85 ounces with no problems.
