    Good quality Victorian Scottish silver Horses Hoof Table Snuff Box

    This very nice Victorian Scottish silver horses hoof table snuff box was made in Edinburgh in 1860 by Mackay & Chisholm and measures 3 7/8 inches long across the top by 3.5 inches wide across the base and is almost 1 inch tall at the back and just under 2 inches tall at the front. It has a lovely bright cut engraved design to the lid and also to the top and top border of the silver mount below the lid and is gilded to the inside and is fully and clearly hallmarked to the lid and inside the base, the date letters being a year apart but obviously hallmarked as the date letter changed. It has a steel horseshoe underneath and a polished hoof and is in lovely condition with no problems.
