Good crested George III silver cake basket Sheffield 1776

This crested early Sheffield hallmarked George III pierced silver basket was made in Sheffield in 1776 by J Hoyland and Co and measures 12 5/8 inches in length by 10.5 inches wide and is just over 3 inches tall to the edge and approx 10 inches to the top of the handle. It is beautifully pierced to the body and has belle flower swags and 3 rows of beading as adornment, the handle is also beaded to the edges with piercing and masks to the arms and stands on a pierced base, it is crested in the bottom with a stags head and the initials JMP in flowing script below it. It is fully hallmarked to the underside and also under the handle with the lion passant and is in very good condition with no problems and weighs 24 ounces or 747 grams, a very pretty basket as useful as when it was made.
